Carry placards with messages on importance of blood donation

A rally was taken out by 500 students from five schools in the city on Friday to mark the World Blood Donor Day. The student carried placards containing messages on blood donation.

Organised by the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Society (TANSACS), Tamil Nadu State Blood Transfusion Council and the State Government, the event was held to create awareness among the younger generation, said District Programme Manager (District AIDS Prevention Control Unit) B. Mohamed Ali.

District Collector M. Karunagaran, who flagged off the rally, also presented the cash awards to best five entries to the painting contest held on Thursday.


The winners were given a cash award of Rs. 500 each. They are: B. Nandhini, Class XI student of Bharathi Matriculation Higher Secondary School, V. Vinothini, Class IX student of CSI Girls Matriculation Higher Secondary School, S. Karthick, Class XI student of R.K. Sree Rangammal Kalvi Nilayam Higher Secondary School, M. Durgadevi, class IX student of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Singanallur and K. Venkat Subash, class IX student of Government High School, Devarayapuram.
