State Government has invited application from children of conservancy workers for grant of education scholarships. A release from the district administration said that the Government would provide an annual grant of Rs. 1,850 a child, studying between Standards I and X.

There was no income eligibility criterion under this scheme. Students could get application form from their school heads and submit the same along with a certificate authenticating parents' job. The school heads should forward the application forms before January 20 to the Adi Dravida Welfare Department at the Coimbatore Collectorate.

Children of part-time workers were not eligible, though.

Under the girl child education assistance scheme the Government provided Rs. 500 a year for children studying between fifth and eighth standards. The release said that all Scheduled Tribe children were eligible for the scheme. Their studying in urban schools would not come in their way of receiving the grant.
