Sarang, the aerobatic display team of the Indian Air Force based at Air Force Station, Sulur, will perform at the Air Force Day parade in New Delhi this year.

The team that flies the Advanced Light Dhruv helicopters will display their skills at the celebrations to be held to mark the 81 Air Force Day that falls on October 8, according to Air Commodore Umesh Kumar, Air Officer Commanding (AOC), 43 Wing AF, Sulur.

Talking to presspersons here on Friday as a lead up to the Air Force Day, the Air Commodore pointed out that the display team was not only known for its aerobatics, but also for its valuable contribution in relief operations. He made a mention of the team’s recent efforts during the Uttarakhand relief and Hoggenakkal rescue operations. Touching upon the intake in the IAF, the AOC said that the Force needed young engineers for its technical functions. School and college students were being made aware through programmes about the opportunities in the IAF.
