Sahyadri Industries, part of Pune-based Patel Group, is looking at installing about one lakh units of its modular toilets in the State by the end of next financial year.
M. Satyanarayana, president, sales and marketing, and Alka Abhijit Erram, executive assistant to the MD, of Sahyadri told The Hindu here on Friday that the group, which is into manufacture of construction materials, launched Cemply Swachalay in October last year. These were made of flyash sheets and could be installed in an hour or so.
These structures could be dismantled and installed in different locations. The cost of each unit ranges between Rs. 18,000 and Rs. 35,000.
The product will help improve sanitation in rural areas and these can be installed in educational institutions or in villages as part of the Clean India campaign.
The product was launched in Pune and so far about 2,000 units had been sold. It was available in Maharashtra, Gujarat, Karnataka and Tamil Nadu. The company had five manufacturing plants.The company was looking at tie-ups with local bodies, NGOs, and corporates.
