Lactating mothers who are travelling can now feed the child in a private room at the bus stands. Of the 351 such private rooms inaugurated recently by the Chief Minister across the State, 15 are in Coimbatore district.

According to an official press release, 15 bus stands have one private room each. These include four maintained by Coimbatore Corporation, two by the municipalities, six by town panchayats, two by Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation and one by the State Express Transport Corporation.

Drinking water

An official of Coimbatore Corporation said that the rooms have drinking water facility, chairs and table, light and fan. In some bus shelters, an existing room has been modified for this purpose and in some places (for instance, Ukkadam), new ones have been constructed.
