Road Safety Week begins with rally

District Collector Archana Patnaik on Saturday flagged off a rally at the Gandhipuram Town Bus Stand to mark the inauguration of the 25 Road Safety Week celebrations. Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City, A.K. Viswanathan was present.

Placards

A release said that more than 650 students from schools and colleges across the district participated in the rally by carrying placards with messages on road safety and raising slogans.

They marched from the Bus Stand, passed through the Women’s Polytechnic College and ended the rally at Regional Transport Office on Balasundaram Road.

Exhibition

Ms. Patnaik earlier inaugurated an exhibition and the campaign using a vehicle.

Deputy Commissioner, Transport, Coimbatore, Muruganandam, General Manager, Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation, Manimuthu and senior officials participated in the function.
