Restaurant owner held for shooting at security guard

The Sulur police on Sunday arrested the owner of a restaurant for allegedly shooting at a security guard using airgun. The arrested has been identified as Selvakumar (33), a resident of Chinthamanipudur near Ondipudur.

The police said that the accused is running a restaurant at Arasur Pirivu.

They said that Selvakumar was using an airgun at the restaurant to scare stray cats that enter the premises.

According to the police, Devarajan (60), security guard of the restaurant, was accidentally shot at his back when Selvakumar aimed at a colour bulb on Saturday. Devarajan sought treatment at Coimbatore Medical College Hospital. Selvakumar was booked under Sections 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means).

Couple held for forgery

The Central Crime Branch of City Police have arrested a couple who availed ₹ 1.20 crore loan from a private bank using forged documents.

The arrested have been identified as Rajamanikam and Savitha of Ammapet, Salem.
