‘Our wait for basic amenities continues’

Residents of Anbu Nagar in Maniyakarampalayam near Ganapathy on Sunday resorted to a protest banning the entry of politicians and candidates into their area and threatened to boycott the Lok Sabha elections.

The residents first prevented a campaign vehicle of the Congress that was on its way to canvass votes for R. Prabhu.

They had already hoisted black flags atop their houses and put up flex boards announcing their decision to ban the entry of politicians and to boycott the polls.

The residents said that their wait for basic amenities such as drinking water, underground drainage and roads was proving to be unending.

Unfulfilled promises

None of the politicians had fulfilled their promises and the representations given so far to the officials concerned had not evoked the required response, hence the decision to boycott polls.
