Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has written to the Central Government seeking a relative pricing mechanism for fuel prices, said R.C. Bhargava, Chairman, MSIL, at a function held in Coimbatore on Friday.
By relative mechanism, the company wanted the price difference between diesel and petrol to remain constant. This would enable car manufacturers to decide where to invest – in diesel machines or petrol machines, he said at the inauguration of a Maruti showroom.
There had been occasions where the difference was around Rs. 10 and there were also times when the difference was around Rs. 30.
If it were to remain constant, it would enable car manufacturers to decide which way to go. In the present circumstances, he was unable to say what would be the price difference six months from now.
Mr. Bhargava said the ensuing festival season would be good for the car industry, given the recent Government announcements on the economic front. The economy in the second half of the financial year would also grow at a better pace than in the first half. This would boost the buyers’ sentiments. "After all, buying a car is all about sentiment – if you feel good you buy."
As for the Manesar plant, he said that in the next eight to 10 weeks, the MSIL hoped to bring back normality in production.
It was looking at recruiting and training new people and offering permanent employment for people who were on contract.
New showroom
Aadhi Maruti, a new car showroom selling cars from Maruti Suzuki India Limited, was inaugurated in the city on Friday. R.C. Bhargava, Chairman, MSIL, inaugurated the showroom in the presence of Justice P. Sathasivam and Aadhi Maruti Managing Director Srinivasan.
Mr. Srinivasan said that the showroom had the 3-S facility – showroom, sales and service. The showroom offered the good infrastructure and the workshop the latest automatic car wash system, collision repair system, oil management system and a fully equipped, state-of-the-art body repair shop to provide good service.
The showroom can accommodate 14 cars at any given point of time.
The service area has 16 mechanical bays and 10 body bays, etc. He said that Aadhi cars will launch e-outlets in Kinathukadavu in Coimbatore and Kothagiri.
Aadhi Maruti has also opened a used car exchange facility at Athipalayam Pirivu on Sathyamangalm Road. The 10,000-sq.ft. facility will enable customers exchange any brand used car for a new Maruti car.
The true value outlet will also sell certified Maruti used cars with warranty and free service option.
This facility has 150 trained professional, including 50 in sales and marketing.
