The AUT-Coimbatore started functioning as one of the Regional Centres of Anna University, Chennai, from August 1, with the Government’s decision to merge all Anna Universities of Technology.

K. Sivakumar, Head, Department of Physics, Anna University, Chennai, assumed office as the Regional Director in-charge of the Coimbatore Regional Centre (the erstwhile Anna University of Technology (AUT), Coimbatore), here on Wednesday.

The AUT-Coimbatore started functioning as one of the Regional Centres of Anna University, Chennai, from August 1, with the Government’s decision to merge all Anna Universities of Technology.

A team of five, including Mr. Sivakumar, will be in-charge of the functioning of the Regional Centre in Coimbatore. S. Sivanesan, Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering, Anna University, Chennai, will be the observer who will monitor the smooth transition process of the merger in Coimbatore. In addition, there will be three non-teaching staff, which will complete the team.

Till further instructions from the Government, the Regional Centre will continue to function from the existing location, according to Mr. Sivakumar.
