Ramzan prayers were offered in 273 mosques across the composite Coimbatore district including Tirupur.
General secretary of Coimbatore Jama-aath M.I. Mohammed Ali said that on Monday, Muslims offered Fajr prayers in the small hours. Community feast marked the celebrations, he added.
In Pollachi, Suleswaranpatti, members of the Sunnath Jama-ath protested against the indiscriminate power cut disturbing their prayers.
The power that went off at 6 a.m. resumed only around 9 a.m. and when the prayers were about to resume, the power went off once again.
The members agitated over the power cut and squatted on the road. Police, TANGEDCO and revenue officials rushed there and the agitation was called off after power supply resumed.
Tense moments prevailed and traffic was disrupted following the agitation.
