Rain in Siruvani

June 20, 2014 09:23 am | Updated 09:23 am IST

Even as the Coimbatore Corporation and the city were living through the fear of water scarcity during this season in view of reports that water in the Siruvani Dam would last only for 10 days, the civic body received good news from the dam: that it recorded 130 mm rain till 8 a.m. on Thursday.

The city as of now gets 70 million litres a day (mld), as against the assured supply of 89 mld under the Siruvani scheme.

Sources said the civic body pinned much hope on the continous rainfall in the region, helping in getting reasonably good supply of water.-Special Correspondent.
