Rain improves storage in reservoirs

With Sholayar already in surplus, the continuing rain in hill areas has helped improve storage in Parambikulam and Amaravathi reservoirs under the Parambikulam – Aliyar Project.

In the last 24-hours that ended at 8.30 a.m. on Monday, the district recorded a total rainfall of 30 mm and the average rainfall stood at 2.50 mm. Rainfall in the last 24 hours in mm at various places; Chincona 6, Chinnakkar 10, Valparai PAP 6, Valparai taluk office 8, Sholayar 28, Parambikulam 15, Upper Nirar 43, and Lower Nirar 21.

Storage

Storage in ft in various PAP reservoirs (full reservoir level in brackets): Sholayar 162.45 (160), Parambikulam 39.65 (72), Aliyar dam 83.20 (120), Thirumurthi 3.17 (60) and Amaravathi 46.90 (90).
