Railway Police on Thursday morning seized Rs. 74 lakh from a person who arrived by Cheran Express from Chennai.
Azhuvalappan Mohammed (48) of Malappuram has been handed over to the Income Tax Department. Preliminary inquiries revealed that he was carrying the cash to a North Indian in Kerala.

Pande (20) of Bihar working with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) unit in charge of Airport Security at Mumbai was taken into custody by the Peelamedu Police on charges of harassment of a woman colleague now working in Coimbatore.
Pande had developed a friendship with a 28-year-old woman CISF personnel. She was transferred to Coimbatore and was staying at the official accommodation. Pande tried to contact her over phone in vain. So he came down to Coimbatore on Wednesday and went to the hostel where she was staying.
The woman told him that it was only friendship and asked him to leave.
But Pande started shouting at her and stated that he would commit suicide, if she did not accept his proposal.
Flesh trade racket
Anti-Vice Squad of the City Police on Wednesday arrested Srinivasan of Kanakkampatti in Palani on charges of organising hi-tech flesh trade.
He was nabbed along with a commercial sex worker in a car at Gandhipuram area.
It is learnt that Srinivasan resorted to high tech flesh trade supplying “high-end commercial sex workers including college going girls” to businesspersons, politicians and students from affluent families and soliciting and finalising of locations used to done over the internet.
The police laid a trap by contacting online and trapped him at Gandhipuram.
