A college student was killed and seven others were injured when their car hit an electric pole here on Thursday.
According to the police, M. Faizal Rahuman, a college student from Pudukottai district, was on his way to Mettupalayam with his friends.
ImpactTheir car had hit the pole on the Annur-Mettupalayam Road during the early hours of Thursday. Due to the impact, the car rolled over into a ditch nearby.
InjuriesFaizal Rahuman died on the spot. Xavier, the driver and his friends Babu, Ibrahim, Jamal Mohammed, Abdul Qader, Sameer Rahuman and Mohammed Idhriyas suffered severe injuries. They were taken to the Government Hospital at Mettupalayam and later transferred to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.
The Annur Police have registered a case and are investigating.
