Prozone, the five lakh sq.ft shopping mall that will be inaugurated here on July 21, will support aspiring, local entrepreneurs who have good ideas, said Nikhil Chaturvedi, Managing Director Prozone Intu.

“We have 10 to 12 regional clients at the mall. We also give opportunity to local entrepreneurs too if they have good idea. We will support them and partner with them and preference is for women. We can accommodate two or three such entrepreneurs,” he told The Hindu on Wednesday.

With over 120 tenants, the mall will have 70 % occupancy initially. It also has space for a regional anchor client. “We have invested ₹ 350 crore for phase one of the mall. We will invest another ₹ 200 crore to develop residential units,” he added. About 500 residential units will be developed first and the plan is to have about 1,200 units. This will be a gated community with common amenities constructed upfront. So the property buyers can use these facilities even before they move in.

Prozone Intu looks at cities that have scope for economic growth because of local industrialisation and that was reason for investing in Coimbatore. “The mall is a consumer business. We believe that we need to give value and comfort to the customers,” he added.

Prozone Intu has a mall in Aurangabad and will develop one in Nagpur. The mall here will have some of the brands that do not have a presence in the city so far. It will also have a nine screen Inox Cineplex, entertainment zone (Fun Unlimited), food court (FooHD!), and parking facility for 2,500 vehicles.
