Protest against MLA: women held

February 27, 2017 10:25 am | Updated 10:25 am IST - Tirupur

The Perumanallur police arrested 23 women after they protested and shouted slogans against MLA (Tirupur North) K. N. Vijayakumar when he came to attend a function here on Saturday.

Police sources said the arrest was made under Section 151 of Criminal Procedure Code (arrest to prevent commission of cognisable offence). They were released later

The women shouted slogans asking the MLA to go back after alleging that the elected representative was not doing anything for the constituency.

It should be noted that people in the same locality had staged a protest some days ago when the MLA expressed solidarity to AIADMK’s interim general secretary V.K. Sasikala.
