Village administrative officers, village assistants and officials in the village panchayats observed a fast here on Saturday protesting against the Kerala government for acting against the interests of people in Tamil Nadu on the Mullaperiyar dam issue.

The protest was organised under the banner of Tamil Nadu Village Administrative Officers association, Tamil Nadu Revenue Village Employees Association and Tamil Nadu Village Assistants Association.

The agitators expressed their wholehearted support for the Tamil Nadu government's stand on the Mullaperiyar issue.

In addition to this, they wanted the Kerala government to increase the water level of the dam to 142 ft as per the court directions.

Appeal

They also appealed to the Kerala government to stop spreading ‘false information' on the safety of the dam.

Another demand of the agitators was that devotees from Tamil Nadu visiting Sabarimala should be given adequate protection during their pilgrimage in the State.
