Prisoners held for possession of ganja

Prison security officials have seized ganja weighing 80 grams found in possession of two prisoners who were brought back after producing them before a court in Tirupur.

According to the police, Moovendan (23) of Sirkazhi in Nagapattinam district and Viswalingam (25) of Kattur Mannar Koil arrested in a theft case, were taken to a court in Tirupur. On their return, before lodging them back at the prison, when frisked, the possession of ganja came to light.

A complaint was preferred with the Race Course police and a case was registered against the two for possession of a material banned in the prison manual. It is learnt that Moovendan, who was to be released in a day or two, is now locked inside again for yet another offence.
