A section of prisoners in the high security area of the Coimbatore Central Prison observed a fast on Wednesday morning in protest against a section of the officials and quality of food provided to them.
Meanwhile, another group of seven prisoners climbed a tree top in protest against non-availability of beedis.
The prisoners, who went on a fast, accused the security staff of fleecing the family members who came to visit them.
Security officials held talks with them following which the agitations were withdrawn.
