Topmost priority will be accorded for implementing the Government schemes and in reaching the benefits to the people, said T.N. Hariharan, the new District Collector for Coimbatore. He replaces M. Karunagaran.
Assuming office on Friday, Mr. Hariharan, an IAS officer of the 2003 batch, said that members of the public having grievances are most welcome to meet him every day from 9 a.m. to 10.30 a.m. at the camp office of the Collector at Race Course.
This will be in addition to the regular Monday's grievances redressal meeting held at the Collectorate.
Mr. Hariharan has served as Executive Director of Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, Deputy Secretary in Rural Development Board, Collector of Ramanathapuram district and Managing Director of Tamil Nadu Housing Board prior to his posting as Coimbatore Collector.
He exhorted the Government servants and officials to render their utmost co-operation in bringing benefits to the people.
When pointed out about the violations, deviations and unauthorised constructions, Mr. Hariharan as Chairman of the Local Planning Authority (LPA) assured to study the problems and initiate remedial measures.
On the inadequate running time for buses (given more than a decade ago for covering the distance) and the increase in number of bus stops and signals on all routes and increase in time taken at bus stops, Mr. Hariharan promised to take up the issue with the Government for getting the running time for buses revised.
