Police website gets additional features

City Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan on Tuesday launched the refurbished website of the Coimbatore City Police with enhanced features providing interface for the public through interactive sections.

The new additions in the website >www. coimbatorecitypolice.com when they fully becomes operational, would facilitate online tracking of First Information Reports (FIR), and passport verification status, besides downloading provisions for various licences such as permission for installing sound-system for festivals, videographing licence, arms licence, lodge licence, gymnasium licence and browsing centre licence.

In addition, the website also has a link to the Tamil Nadu Police website for additional State-related information, particularly missing persons, unidentified bodies and e-complaints which issues computer generated acknowledgement.

With Deepavali round-the-corner, applications for cracker licences have also been made available in the website, said Mr. Viswanathan.

B. Balaji of AES Technologies who designed the website said that the process of fine tuning, with addition of more facilities in the website and installation of a dedicated service and control panel is also on.

All these works will be completed in the next two to three days, he said.
