Police register case against Martin, arrest manager

Coimbatore City Police have registered a case against lottery businessman Santiago Martin and arrested his manager Prakash on charges of criminally intimidating a businessman and trying to grab his property.

Martin is at the Coimbatore Prison for his alleged involvement in various land grab cases.

In his complaint, Krishnaraj of D.B. Road, R.S. Puram, had stated that to raise money for his business he tried to sell his premises, measuring 9,000 sq.ft., on D.B. Road.

He found a buyer in Martin and after negotiations they settled for Rs.1.5 crore, which Martin paid in four instalments. He also obtained his signatures.

But Martin did not register the sale agreement and continued to buy time since the deal took place in October 2009.

As on date, the sale agreement was not registered. Meanwhile, the cost of property had escalated to around Rs.25 crore.

Now, Martin was forcing him to part with the property and refusing to pay the differential amount.

When he refused he along with his manager Prakash intimated him, Krishnaraj said and added that when he went to the prison to meet Martin in December 2011, he threatened him with dire consequences.
