: Members of the Tamilnadu Muslim Munnetra Kazhagam (TMMK) led by the party’s Coimbatore North district secretary E. Ahmed Kabir condemned the killing of 20 Tamils at Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh, and five Muslims in an alleged fake encounter at Telangana by the respective State police personnel.
The protestors who staged a demonstration near the Periyar Statue at Aathupalam near Ukkadam sought adequate compensation for families of the victims in the two incidents. The TMMK cadres were removed by the police.
The protestors also condemned Andhra Pradesh police for denying access to the fact-finding team from visiting the place where the killing took place.
The protestors said that they would coordinate with other political parties and a State-wide protest would soon be organised if justice was delayed for the victims and their families.
Protests
Members of Samathuva Makkal Katchi organised similar protests at Coimbatore and Pollachi on Friday. They sought arrest of the police personnel who were involved in the killing of 20 persons from tribal families in Tamil Nadu.
Demonstration
About 75 persons attached to the Tamil Nadu Ramar Sena staged a demonstration in the city on Friday seeking detention of Dravidar Kazhagam leader K. Veeramani for hurting the sentiment of Hindus by organising a thaali removal programme in Chennai recently.
Land bill
Members of the social democratic trade union staged a protest at Ukkadam on Friday condemning the land acquisition bill of the government at the centre.
