Residents of Ward 6, 7, and 8 of the Perianaickenpalayam Town Panchayat have urged the district administration to relocate a liquor outlet from a commercial building belonging to the local body.

A petition submitted to District Collector Archana Patnaik during the public grievances redress meeting here on Monday said that pharmacies, and stationery outlets function from the commercial complex which was frequented by students. A proposal to shift the liquor outlet to a remote place in Ward 7 was approved about a month ago. However, it was not implemented.

Temple land

The Indu Makkal Katchi (IMK) has urged the district administration to ensure that the Chinnakumaran Temple in Thudiyalur was kept open for all section of people.

A group of people had now taken over the temple, and 26 cents, said a petition submitted by the organisation’s member S.P. Shanmuga Vadivel.

Repair road

The Sri Sowdeswari Vidhyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary Parents Welfare Association, asked the district administration to repair major roads in Peru, Ramamurth, and Ponnaiahrajapuram.

Several schools were located in these areas and the bad condition of the roads was causing hardships to the students. Several accidents had also taken place on these roads because of its bad condition, he claimed.

Cemetery

Arundathiyar community members from Kalapatti have urged the district administration to allot a piece of land for use as burial ground. In a petition submitted to the District Collector R. Kathirvel and Balasubramaniam said that the present burial ground had been encroached upon.
