Plea to create more sub-judge’s court

October 28, 2013 11:32 am | Updated 11:32 am IST - Tirupur:

The meeting of district unit of All India Lawyers Union (AILU) held here recently has appealed for creation of more sub-judge’s court in Tirupur considering the huge volume of cases pending before the existing subordinate judge’s court.

This apart, the AILU members called upon the State Government to expeditiously allocate funds towards the construction of the Combined Court Complex allotted for Tirupur district and also requested the High Court to immediately appoint the District Munsif for the district.

S. Ponram, the district secretary of AILU, said another subordinate judge’s court was very much a necessity for Tirupur district because more than 1,000 accident claims and other civil suits were pending at the moment.

The meeting passed a resolution in which the lawyers requested the High Court and the Principal District and Session Court to take immediate steps for filling up the entire vacancies existing in the administrative side in various courts across the district.

“Almost 100 sanctioned posts are presently lying vacant and the shortage is severely felt in the every day functioning of the courts,” Mr. Ponram said.

Another demand highlighted in the resolution was the need to appoint Advocate Commissioners from among the advocates who had below five years of service so that it could be a morale booster for the young law graduates.

“We are also of the opinion that the rookie law graduates should be given monthly stipend by the State Government for the first five years of practice as done in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh,” Mr. Ponram said.

The AILU reiterated the need for creation of toilet facilities in the old court complex in Tirupur city which houses two additional district judge courts, two judicial magistrate courts, one munisff court, lok adalat court and one subordinate judge court.

AILU district president P. Mohan and senior advocates spoke.
