Cmmotion prevailed at Hope College Junction on Avanashi Road on Friday when nearly 100 parents of children studying in a nearby school gathered there expressing their resentment over the changes in traffic pattern introduced along the stretch from July 20.

They said that the new pattern should have been carried out with minimum inconvenience.

The 30-seconds time allotted for pedestrians was inadequate for children to cross the road, they said. They wanted police to be deployed to help children cross the road.

The residents of Masakkalipalayam, Varadarajapuram and nearby areas said that the new ‘U turn’ provision was leading to piling up of traffic during peak hours – from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. They asked the police to rectify the flaws in the new system.
