Accusing the State Government of showing discriminatory attitude and continued neglect of Western Tamil Nadu, Kongu Nadu Munnetra Kazhagam has planned to organise a massive padayatra besides a fast unto death in January 2010.

In a statement, Arunachalam of State Advocates Wing and Coimbatore City Convenor of the party, G.K. Nagaraj have announced that Government had failed to initiate any concrete measure for preventing the pollution of Noyyal river and that in turn polluting the ground water table.

There had not been any lasting solution to the problems of dyeing units. There had not been any concerted effort to widen, strengthen and relay the Mettuppalayam Road that stands as a tall example of congestion and frequent accidents. Speedy implementation of water supply schemes is the need of the hour. There had not been any reassuring measure to implement the Under Ground Drainage Scheme (UGD).

Stringent norms and rules imposed on industries had resulted entrepreneurs not being able to start new industries. The announcement that World Tamil Conference will be held in Coimbatore was done in haste and there had not been any major planning towards the same and no effort had been made for upgrading the infrastructure for meeting the needs during the conduct of the conference.

KMK also flayed the DMK Government of having betrayed the interests of Western Tamil Nadu by getting the Central University and Marine University to Thiruvarur instead of having them at Coimbatore as originally planned. Citing number of such instances, the KMK office bearers pointed out at a recent fast observed by the party president, Best S.Ramasamy and General Secretary, E.R.Easwaran at Tirupur recently and added that as a next step, the party would hold a massive padayatra and a fast unto death. Continued neglect of this region would be befittingly answered by the people in the form of electoral outcome in future, they cautioned.
