Over 60 sovereigns stolen in four incidents in city

More than 60 sovereigns of gold jewellery was reportedly stolen in four separate incidents in Coimbatore over the last two days.

J. Hithayathullah (40) of South Ukkadam lodged a complaint with the Bazaar Police alleging that 38 sovereigns of gold jewellery was stolen from his house.

G. Saranya (22) of Jayaprakash Nagar near Ganapathy lodged a complaint with the Saravanampatty Police alleging that 15.5 sovereigns was stolen from her house. An unidentified man attacked a 68-year-old woman on her head before fleeing with her three sovereign gold chain on Thursday evening in Peelamedu. S. Selvi (24) of Alampalayam near Annur was returning home in a moped with her son on Thursday evening when an unidentified person, who came behind her on a bike, snatched her five sovereign chain.
