Over 120 persons placed under preventive detention

Over 120 persons with previous history of crime were placed under preventive detention during a search operation conducted on Wednesday and Thursday.

The search was conducted in view of the forthcoming elections to Parliament.

According to police sources, ten arrest warrants were also executed. The searches were conducted at 82 lodges and 33 marriage halls across the city limits. Workers of five mills were also questioned.

The searches were carried out on the instruction from City Police Commissioner A.K. Viswanathan.
