The growth of financial services' industry has opened up many avenues for management graduates. Insurance sector, mutual funds industry, forex advisory, and investment banking, have thrown up new opportunities, C. Swaminathan, Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University, has said.

Delivering the graduation day address at the Coimbatore Institute of Management and Technology, he said management graduates need to be industry-ready to take up these opportunities.

“Feedback from placement sessions at many business schools point to the need for the management students to hone their soft skills. There are times when we find them failing miserably to speak about themselves even for a minute. The self-introductory remarks they make in a personal interview is very crucial,” he said.

R.M. Vasagam, former Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, Chennai, said thousands of highly qualified engineers and technologists from many institutions across India hade made possible for the country to make its mark as an emerging IT hub. K.A. Chinnaraju, Secretary, and P. Natarajan, Principal, spoke.
