The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) members on Monday submitted a petition to District Collector G. Govindaraj stating that officials were not wearing name badge while on duty. This was a violation of the State Government rule.

AAP district convener S. Sundarapandian said that according to a government order dated March 26, 1986 all officers and staff, including those in the public sector corporations, and local bodies, must wear name badges while on duty.

“This was again reminded by the present State Government in the recent days but a majority of the officials look least bothered to follow it,” he said.

According to the government order, the badge should be approximately in the size of 7cm X 2cm in white plastic with black letters.

Since the officials by and large were not adhering to this order, citizens cannot identify the officials whose services were not satisfactory.

“Interestingly, none of the senior officials sitting on the dais receiving the petitions from people at the Collectorate during the meetings to redress grievances and other officials from different departments were wearing the badges,” the AAP members said.
