The Centre for Wind Energy Technology is expected to release the numerical wind atlas that it is preparing by the end of 2009.
Speaking at a seminar organised by the Indian Wind Power Association here on Saturday on “Power Trading Opportunities,” Executive Director of the centre S. Gomathinayagam said the country had 620 wind measurement stations. The wind power density had been measured in these locations. The data would be integrated with thematic maps.
The Meso scale model was being used to prepare the atlas. The project was started two years ago and was going on in association with RISO-DTV, Denmark. The validation process is on and the atlas is likely to be released by the end of this year.
