New SP takes charge in Coimbatore

M. Sudhakar, a 2002 batch Tamil Nadu Police Service officer, assumed office on Wednesday as the Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore Rural. He took charge from E.S. Uma, who had been transferred to Pudukottai.

Soon after assuming the office, he told journalists that his priorities would be maintaining law and order, preventing crime and reducing road accidents. Asked about his plans for the Coimbatore Rural police district, he said that he would have to study the situation first.

Dr. Sudhakar, who holds an M.B.B.S., was previously Superintendent of Police, Organised Crime Intelligence Unit, Chennai. This was his first posting after promotion as Superintendent of Police. Prior to that he was Additional Superintendent of Police, Special Branch, Chennai.

He started his career in 2002 as Deputy Superintendent of Police, Madhavaram. He had also served in Chengalpattu, and Ashok Nagar, Chennai.
