New pipeline to streamline water supply in 9 wards

A new pipeline is being laid to streamline the drinking water supply in six wards and parts of three other wards.

The work commenced on Thursday with Mayor S.M. Velusamy and Deputy Mayor Leelavathy Unnikrishnan, Corporation Commissioner G. Latha and Deputy Commissioner S. Sivarasu taking part in the function to inaugurate it.

The work is being executed at a cost of Rs. 8.40 crore.

The new line will ease pressure on the existing distribution system and ensure uniform water supply across Wards 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62.

It will also benefit parts of Wards 37, 41 and 56.

The new line will commence from the Corporation’s Main Service Reservoir on Sathyamangalam Road.

Road works

Later, the Mayor commenced the works for repairing roads at a cost of nearly Rs. 6 crore in Sri Ram Nagar, Ambal Nagar, Karpaga Vinayakar Nagar, MKB Colony, Thangam Nagar, Ashok Nagar, Balamurugan Nagar, Krishna Nagar, FCI Colony, Nandavana Thottam colony, Asisi Nagar and Nehru Nagar in Wards 40 and 41.

Sapling planting drive

The Mayor also launched a sapling planting drive organised by a private firm near the HDFC Bank on Kalapatti Road in the East Zone of the Corporation.
