It has also equipped these centres particularly where lakes and boat rides are held, with new life jackets. Many of the old boats also have been replaced.
According to officials in Yercaud, after the boat tragedy in Thekkady, stringent safety norms are being adhered to in the tourist centres in Tamil Nadu.
The Yercaud tourism centre also has received 300 life jackets for riders.
A senior official said that no tourist would be permitted to take a boat ride without life jacket on.
