Research and innovation will be the highlight of the new PSG institution – PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research, said L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee, R. Rudramoorthy, Principal, PSG College of Technology and Polytechnic College, and P.V. Mohan Ram, Principal, PSG Institute of Technology and Applied Research, here on Saturday.

The new institution has tied up with Fesco, an automation company, National Instruments, and a few other companies to provide students the right atmosphere to learn from industry experts. It has an innovation centre, fabrication unit, and a few specialised centres to encourage students to innovate and invent. It has planned to set up a centre of excellence in machine tool engineering centre and a behavioural competency centre to groom students into professionals.

Courses

The college offers undergraduate courses in civil, mechanical, electrical and electronics, electronics and communication and computer science engineering disciplines. The intake is 300 in all the five disciplines.

The State Government would fill 65 per cent of the students through counselling. The college would have more than 100 seats for admission under the management quota. Mr. Rudramoorthy said that 190 would be the cut of mark for admission under the management quota as well.

Faculty

The college has recruited the faculty and has trained them for the past two years at the PSG College of Technology, Mr. Rudramoorthy said.
