Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Thursday inaugurated two bridges in the district and flagged off 14 newly-manufactured buses.

Of the two bridges, the 505 metre-long Road Over Bridge (ROB) constructed across the railway track near Koolipalayam was built at an outlay of Rs. 12.66 crore. The State Government had contributed Rs. 10.96 crore and the remaining expenditure for the project was borne by Railways.

The commissioning of the bridge would help the traffic from Tirupur-Kangayam Road to move easily to Avinashi area. The other bridge opened on the day was a high-level bridge along Palladam-Avinashi sector. The project was executed at a cost of Rs 2.3 crore. The 73 metre- long bridge has a riding surface of 10.5 metre.
