Several sub-registrar offices in the district will move into own buildings soon and works have already started for some of these.
The sub-registrar offices at Saravanampatty, Negamam and Pollachi are some of those that have plans for a new building. The department has planned a new building for the one at Ganapathy too.
Secretary of Coimbatore Consumer Cause K. Kathirmathiyon said that since the effort was to create a permanent office, land should be identified in such a way that there was scope for future expansion and the office should be easily accessible to all.
For instance, there were reports that at Vadavalli the department planned to construct a building at the foothills of Maruthamalai.
The Vadavalli sub-registrar office catered to several villages in the north and south taluks and the land selected was at the end of the Maruthamalai Road.
Land for such permanent infrastructure should be identified in areas that were not too distant for the public to travel to and it should be convenient for use in the future too.
“Government buildings should be situated in a place that would have scope for future development,” he said. Land for the sub-registrar office should be identified in the main Vadavalli area and the location identified now should be reviewed, he said.
