Utmost care would be taken not to disturb the natural vegetation in and around Central Jail premises here, where a botanical garden is to come up as part of the World Tamil Classical Conference from June 23rd, Kanimozhi, MP and secretary, research committee, said on Monday.
Kanimozhi, along with senior district and police officials, including Collector P. Umanath, went round the about 93 acre Jail premises, where the garden is coming up.
“The natural vegetation will not be disturbed to the extent possible. We will start the work along with the conference,” Kanimozhi, daughter of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi told reporters.
The garden, to be titled ‘World Tamil Classical Garden’ would be created step by step without disturbing the functioning of the jail and major structures, she said, adding that funds would not be a problem.
She said she would submit a report, based on which the Chief Minister would take final decision.
