A medical exhibition - ‘Nalam 2014’- got under way at the PSG Hospitals Ground on Saturday.
Organised by the PSG Hospitals as part of its silver jubilee celebrations, the expo was inaugurated by Health Minister C. Vijaya Baskar in the presence of Minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development, S.P. Velumani, managing trustee of PSG Institutions L. Gopalakrishnan and hospital medical director Vimal Kumar Govindan. The expo featured 44 stalls with information on various health problems and how to treat them. Using a life-size dummy, the students demonstrated the procedure to administer the cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
The stall on surgery highlighted on how skin grafting and plastic surgery are performed.
The stalls of the departments of Cardiology and Endocrinology showcased the advancements in their respective fields. The Department of School Education was requested to inform about the expo to all the government schools in Coimbatore district.
The organisers expect as many as 15,000 students to visit the expo which would be held till July 15 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. There is no entry fee
