Former Tamil Nadu Minister for Handlooms and Textiles N. K. K. P. Raja MLA and six others were acquitted by a magistrate court here in an assault case.

Mr. Sivabalan had lodged a police complaint in October last year that Mr. Raja and others had assaulted him when he visited the MLA’s farm house at Kanjikoil village near Perundurai in the district.

The CB CID police registered an assault case against Mr. Raja and others following Mr. Sivabalan’s complaint and arrested the MLA. He was later released on bail.

Magistrate R Naraja acquitted Mr. Raja and others yesterday stating that the prosecution had failed to prove charges against them.
