The mud washed down by rain from a private land located along Devarmalai – Bargur Road is posing threat to road users. People wanted the land owner to construct a wall to prevent further inconvenience.

Hamlets in Bargur hills have been receiving copious rain in the past four days leading to water stagnation on roads and fast filling of ponds and check dams. However, many roads in the hill areas were damaged and people wanted repair works to be carried out.

Disruption

Due to heavy rain, mud from a private land along the road washed down onto the road on Thursday night. This disrupted the movement of vehicles, particularly, two-wheelers and cars.

The mud turned the road slippery and two-wheeler riders found it difficult to pass through the stretch. Later, workers removed the mud.

People in the area said that during rainy season it happened regularly and the land owner failed to construct a wall to prevent the mud from washing onto the road. They said that the mud also entered their houses and they needed more water to clean the houses. They urged the administration to take action against the land owner for causing inconvenience to the public.
