Mosquito control programme underway at Coimbatore Corporation

Coimbatore Corporation has begun the Intensive Mosquito Eradication programme, said a release.

In the first phase, the civic body handed over handbooks to students (class six to eight) studying in its schools. Around 8,000 handbooks had been printed for the purpose.

The book would enable students understand how mosquitoes spread diseases, they bred, and places where they bred. The book would also teach students the method to destroy mosquitoes and prevent their multiplication.

In this regard, the civic body had already conducted an awareness programme for teachers.

Recently, Corporation officials handed over the books to students of the Corporation school on Oppanakara Street.

Mayor R. Venkatachalam also gave 553 tables and 700 chairs to students of Corporation schools. Deputy Mayor N. Karthik and Commissioner Anshul Mishra were present on the occasion.
