More than 26,000 candidates appear for teacher eligibility test in Coimbatore

Around 15 candidates who are said to have reported late for the test were denied permission to write the papers

As many as 26,948 candidates took the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) conducted by the Teacher Recruitment Board in Coimbatore and Pollachi Education Districts on Sunday.

The test was held in 36 centres in two sessions, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. As many as 2,186 invigilators were deputed for duty at the test centres.

District Collector M. Karunagaran visited a few test centres to take stock of the arrangements. Around 15 candidates who are said to have reported late for the test at St. Joseph’s Matriculation Higher Secondary School on Trichy Road were denied permission to write the papers.

Shanmugapriya, a candidate who had fractured her leg, arrived at the test centre in Annur in an ambulance.
