Mariapushpam of J.K. Nagar in Perianaickenpalayam who went missing on August 20 was found dead at P. Narasipura limits in Mysore.
The 53-year-old woman, a widow living with her two sons, was working as an agent for appointment distributors of consumer durable products.
According to police, James Packiam, brother of the deceased, lodged a complaint on August 21 stating that his sister who left Perianaickenpalayam on August 20 to attend a meeting at Sathyamangalam was scheduled to proceed to Tiruchi to attend to a function in the family. But she neither reached Tiruchi nor returned home.
Even as investigations were on, the Mysore police, who were investigating the murder of an unidentified woman in P. Narasipura police limits, found the label of a Perianaickenpalayam tailor on the blouse of the deceased. When Coimbatore police were informed of the findings, the description of Mariapushpam matched the picture sent by Mysore police.
Mariapushpam’s relatives rushed to P. Narasipura to confirm her identity.
The jewellery on the victim was missing. Karnataka police have registered a case of murder and investigations are being co-ordinated with Coimbatore police. Inquiries are on to find out who abducted Mariapushpam from Sathyamangalam to Mysore.
