Minister’s surprise visit to school has students elated

The students of the Government High School at Vadugapatti village in Sankagiri union were taken by surprise when Social Welfare Minister V. Saroja had noon meal along with them on Tuesday.

The joy of the teachers and students knew no bounds, as the Vadugapatti Government School was the Minister’s alma mater. After going around the campus, the Minister preferred to sit along with the students on the floor and took the noon meals.

In a pep talk with the students on the occasion, the Minister advised them to take healthy food and learn r good habits.

Dr. Saroja said that it was a proud moment for her to visit her alma mater and mingle with students. She recalled the days she spent in the surrounding villages as a student and later as a government doctor for another two decades before entering politics.

The Minister planted a few saplings on the school campus and called upon the students and teachers to participate in the programmes aimed at increasing the green cover.

At the Government middle school, she called upon the staff and the students to maintain the campus and the anganwadi centre functioning on the premises neat and tidy. She inspected the stock of the eggs and their quality.
