A number of Ministers participated in the laying of stone for pandhal for the MGR centenary function to be held here on December 3.

Deputy Speaker of the Assembly Pollachi V. Jayaraman, MPs and MLAs also participated at the function held at the VOC grounds.

Ahead of the centenary celebrations, the district administration has organised various sports and literary competitions for school and college students. Special medical camps, eye screening camps, and photo exhibitions have been conducted.

Collector T.N. Hariharan, Corporation Commissioner K. Vijayakarthikeyan, Coimbatore City Police Commissioner A. Amalraj among others took part in the function, says a release.
