Mime shows on deforestation and its consequences and the importance of water conservation marked the launch of a children’s theatre in the Blue Mountains on Saturday night.

With the Laidlaw Memorial School and Junior College at Ketti near here playing the host for the maiden performance in The Nilgiris of Andrayas, a group of mime artistes from Switzerland for the promoters, the Helen O Grady International Speech and Drama Academy, its franchisee Anitha Sekhar told The Hindu that the concept aimed at elevating school education.

Stating that it was designed to help children master communication skills and raise their level of confidence, she hoped that it would find favour with the people of The Nilgiris.
