Mill worker succumbs to injuries

Dhanalakshmi, 48, a mill worker from Sirumugai, succumbed to injuries she sustained in an accident that took place on April 3. According to police, the woman was hit by a speeding vehicle when she was returning home after work at the mill.

Case against 1,100 persons

The police have registered cases against 1,100 persons for staging demonstration and affecting the flow of traffic.

The police said that there were frequent road rokos , protests, etc. on Palakkad Road, Rice Mill Road, Aathupalam, Karumbukkadai, Sunnambu Kalavai by people for a variety of reasons. The protests affected the flow of traffic on the busy stretches and even ambulances found it hard to reach hospitals.
